Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB) is our independently audited certification. Founded in 2020, over 43% of UK annual bottle production is already certified by the scheme.
By buying SWGB wines you can be assured that the bottle in your shopping basket has been produced by a vineyard and winery adhering to the highest standards in the sector.
The scheme evaluates the work of vineyards and wineries, supporting the measurement and reduction of carbon. The scheme’s Carbon Calculator ensures that the whole process can calculate the number of tonnes of CO2 generated per hectare of vineyard and/or per bottle of wine produced.
In the vineyard, the SWGB Scheme includes standards regarding: soil health, biodiversity and carbon footprint.
In the winery, it captures waste water disposal, energy use and winery design.
