Red wines
Pinot Noir: Proving Potential
Well-known as the ‘heartbreak grape’, Pinot Noir is now proving its potential in the UK, producing red wines with fragrant aromatics, impressive structure, and distinct personality. With warming growing seasons and increasingly skilled vineyard management, this noble variety is spearheading the rise of the reds in England and Wales.
Expect bright red fruit aromatics layered with earthy complexity and supple tannins. From elegant fruit-driven expressions to more robust wines enhanced by oak, our Pinots are versatile, gastronomic, and muti-dimensional.
While still dependent on favourable vintages, when the conditions align, our Pinot Noirs can achieve real elegance and depth, standing tall among cool-climate counterparts worldwide.
With naturally lower alcohol, vibrant acidity, and a lighter, fresher profile, these wines are right on trend with modern drinking preferences. English and Welsh Pinot Noir is no longer a curiosity, it’s a category on the rise, and one to watch.

Rising stars and British classics
Pinot Noir Précoce, the earlier-ripening cousin of Pinot Noir, has made its home in the UK, delivering juicy fruit, soft tannins and easy-drinking appeal. Versatile with an affinity for oak and excellent food pairing ability, its vibrant aromatics make it both a successful single varietal wine and useful in blends.
Heritage variety Rondo – the UK’s third most planted red variety – delivers deeply coloured wines with plush red and black fruit, silky tannins, and impressive freshness. Full flavoured yet approachable, Rondo is a standout among the British classics.
The red wine scene continues to diversify, with producers exploring international varieties like Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Merlot, and Pinot Meunier, alongside heritage grapes such as Dornfelder and Regent. Meanwhile, climate change has encouraged the planting of disease-resistant hybrids and Piwi varieties, including Cabaret Noir and Divico, bred for resilience and lower intervention.

Orange wines
With common tasting note for orange wine being ‘tea’, it’s perhaps unsurprising that it has found a home in England and Wales. An ancient winemaking style where wine grapes are fermented on their skins, these amber-hued skin-contact wines are having a moment, and we are no exception.
Produced from a range of varieties from Chardonnay and Bacchus to Solaris and Ortega, these aromatic, characterful wines deliver gentle tannin and compelling texture.
Produced in a range of styles, both conventional and natural, these are wines to sip and savour. A welcome addition to the UK’s evolving wine story.
