Legal notice & Disclaimer
WineGB’s conferences, webinars and other updates for members or public (collectively “Content”) are not intended to constitute formal legal, financial, technical or other advice, or create a lawyer-client relationship. Content is provided in good faith with reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, but is no substitute for obtaining advice appropriate for your particular circumstances. Participants should not rely upon the Content or act upon any information in the expectation of claiming reliance, and are advised to consult their own legal, financial, technical or other advisors should they wish to rely on it or have any material impact on their businesses or personal situation.
Content is provided “as is.” WineGB and its directors, officers, staff or volunteers do not represent that the content will be error-free, timely, free of viruses or other harmful elements, or that defects will be corrected; no representations are made, express or implied, with respect to the timeliness, accuracy or completeness of any of the content, and any liability or warranties, express or implied, including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement are expressly disclaimed, as well as any liability for any action, or failure to take action, in reliance on any of content. Members Data
How we process your personal data
The details that you provide to WineGB as part of your membership application/renewal will be recorded and processed on the following basis:
- Name, address, membership group and date of joining/leaving WineGB will be listed on the statutory members’ register required to be maintained under the provisions of the Companies Act 2006 and made available for inspection at the registered office of WineGB.
Contractual basis to provide your membership services:
- Name, address and contact details will be maintained on our members register to contact you as needed regarding your membership of WineGB.
- Name, address and email will be maintained on our SAGE accounting system to produce and send you invoices as required.
- If you have elected to pay your membership fees by direct debit we will keep the Direct Debit mandate in a secure place and use the information provided to collect the fees in accordance with your instructions.
- The personal emails supplied will be added to the email forum, the Mailchimp lists for bulletins
and the WineGB staff outlook accounts for communication. - Each time The Grape Press and The Green Book are published, your name and postal address will be sent to the printers for mailing purposes only.
- Your name, address and contact details will be passed onto the secretary of your regional vineyards association for them to contact you and add to their members list.
- Personal data will be maintained on the members’ register for the period during which you are a member.
- Producer members must give a full months’ notice if they wish to cancel their membership otherwise you will be liable for a full years fees. (We will contact you to remind you when your renewal is due).
- If you leave WineGB your personal data will be transferred to the list of previous members to be used if you choose to renew your membership. This will be maintained for up to five years after which time it will be deleted.
By consent to provide a list of WineGB members to the public:
- WineGB will publish producer member names and contact details on the WineGB website.
- WineGB will supply member name and contact details to the Vineyard Magazine for your free subscription.
Your rights regarding processing of your data
All individuals may contact WineGB verbally or in writing for the following purposes:
- To request details of their personal information held by WineGB.
- To request that erroneous personal data about themselves is corrected.
- To request that personal data is removed from the membership register (NB: Personal data cannot be removed from the statutory members’ register as this is a legal requirement).
- To remove consent previously given to WineGB to publish their details on the website.
Non Members
If you are a vineyard or winery in the UK we may retain your information for service updates, marketing purposes or for industry survey. The information we hold are names, addresses and contact details.

Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request other information such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share personal information with.
Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to correct or delete personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.
Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information.
Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information.
Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data.

Collection & use of data
Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for service updates, marketing purposes or industry surveys are:
Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. Our legitimate interest is that WineGB is the recognised representative of the UK Wine Production Industry. We contact individual UK Wine Producers to encourage them to join as members so that we have a stronger voice for the industry. We also contact individual wine producers to gather information through industry surveys to enable us to produce more accurate and meaningful data for the industry as a whole.
Where we get personal information from past member records and publicly available sources.
Data retention we will retain your personal information for as long as you are a wine grower or producer or until you ask us to delete your information.

Your right to lodge a complaint about how WineGB handles your personal data
If you have any concerns about our use of your personal data, you can make a complaint to us using the contact details at the top of this privacy notice.
If you remain unhappy with how we’ve used your data after raising a complaint with us, you can also raise a concern about how WineGB has handled your personal data to the Information Commissioners Office – helpline number: 0303 123 1113. The ICO is the supervisory body for data processing in the UK.
