WineGB’s annual Trade & Press Tasting will be taking place at RHS Lindley Hall in London on Tuesday 6th September and promises to be another packed event.

Newcomers to the industry and long-established names will be exhibiting, including some for the first time, along with added focus features.

This year’s tasting will include producer tables as well as themed free-pour tables including:
– Classic Method Blanc de Noirs
– Wines produced using other Sparkling Methods
– Single Varietal Still Whites

As in previous years there will also be a tasting table showing the recently announced WineGB Awards 2022 Trophy Winning Wines.

The focus on sustainability in the industry has never been more important, and this year there will be a spotlight on Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB), the industry’s sustainability programme. The SWGB feature will provide further insight into the scheme, highlight those vineyards and wineries in the scheme and provide a focus on those wines that have already achieved SWGB accreditation.

WineGB Chief Executive Simon Thorpe MW will be sharing the latest industry report at a briefing on the day, based on latest survey data, providing a ‘state of the nation’ update on this ever-expanding industry. He comments: “The spotlight has never been greater on English and Welsh wines. This tasting is a great opportunity for us to share all the exciting developments in the industry, and for visitors to taste the wealth and breadth of styles now being produced in this most dynamic of wine producing regions. We are at a particularly exciting time for the industry as sales continue to increase, exports are growing, and as we start to cement a culture of wine tourism in the UK.”

As well as visitors from across the UK wine trade and press set to visit the tasting, WineGB will also be welcoming overseas buyers for the first time, this year from the Scandinavian monopolies.

In line with the organisation’s objectives to become more sustainable, there will be no printed tasting catalogue this year. Instead, WineGB is producing a digital only catalogue which will also allow visitors to research exhibitors and wines ahead of the event. Head of Marketing Julia Trustram Eve comments: “We are particularly excited to be working with Bottlebooks this year to provide a more comprehensive way of accessing information on the wines, producers and other tasting features. It will allow us to enhance the visitor experience both on the day and well after the event has taken place. Importantly, from a sustainability perspective it is reducing our reliance on paper and avoiding wastage.”
