US Trade Enjoys Best of British
PRESS RELEASE FROM BRITISH BOTTLE COMPANY
For immediate release: 16th July 2018
A group of leading English wineries showed their commitment to export by welcoming influential US distributors last week for a packed schedule of vineyard tours, in-depth tastings and visit to
Henley Royal Regatta.
The trip was organised by The British Bottle Company in partnership with Vine Street Imports and their portfolio of English wine producers: Hush Heath Estate, Bolney Wine Estate and Digby Fine English.
Designed to build on the strong support these wines have gained in the US market since their launch two years ago, the visit offered distributors a chance to witness the rapidly evolving English
wine scene at first hand. This experience extended to enjoying English sparkling wine in the glamorous context of Henley Royal Regatta as guests of Digby Fine English, official partner of elite
rowing club Leander.
The group featured senior representatives from Texas, Florida, Arizona, Virginia and Maine, as well as a handful of Michelin-starred restaurants. Each earned their place via a competition based on sales of English sparkling wine; for several distributors this was their first ever visit to the UK. As the English wine industry seeks to expand its export business, currently standing at 4% of total
sales*, the US represents a major target and is already one of the category’s largest foreign markets.
