WineGB response to Industrial Strategy consultation (November)

WineGB’s response to a public consultation that will inform the development of the new Industrial Strategy, the Government’s proposed plan to boost investment, growth, and stability. The final Industrial Strategy is due to be published in Spring 2025, alongside the multi-year Spending Review.

Autumn Budget Submission (September)

WineGB’s second Budget submission of the year and the first under the new Labour Government.

WineGB Response on Wine Regulations 2011 Questionnaire (May)

WineGB response to a Government questionnaire which asked for feedback on the ongoing relevance of Defra’s 2011 wine regulations. The questionnaire also asked for ways that these regulations could be simplified and improved.

WineGB Response to Wine Reforms Third Round Consultation (May)

WineGB response to the Wine Reforms Consultation on the third phase of AEUL (assimilated EU law) wine reform. The main issues of concern from responses received are, unsurprisingly, the importing and transformation of bulk wine, grapes, or grape must and the proposals around using the term ‘British’ when accompanied by the term ‘wine’.

Fairer Food Labelling Consultation (May)

WineGB response to the Fairer Food Labelling consultation. On first reading, this consultation has little to do with wine (its focus being on animal and fish products primarily) however we were encouraged to reply by senior members of Defra as the ‘country of origin labelling’ questions were of relevance to English and Welsh wine. These questions focused on the use of national flags and other colour schemes, the provision of method of production information, and how this is shown.

Alcohol Duty Review Response (March)

WineGB provided input to the latest HMRC Excise consultation on a series of potential amendments to The Alcoholic Products (Excise Duty) Regulations.  These proposed changes are practical in nature focusing on the implementation of the Regulations themselves.  Prior to providing input WineGB engaged with CarpenterBox and a selection of members to ascertain their views /input.
