Chapel Down named ‘Official English Sparkling Wine’ of Ascot Racecourse
Chapel Down has today announced it is the ‘Official English Sparkling Wine’ Supplier of Ascot Racecourse from 2024. This is the first time in the 300-year history of the prestigious British racecourse that an English wine brand has become an Official Supplier.
Chapel Down has been the sole English sparkling wine served in the main bars of Ascot Racecourse since 2018 and has been a race sponsor for the past five years. This extended partnership will see Chapel Down as the exclusive English sparkling wine being served to more than half a million racegoers, including the flagship meeting in June – Royal Ascot.
As well as featuring on wine lists across the 179-acre racecourse, Chapel Down will also host a series of experiential activations on key race days in 2024.
Today’s announcement coincides with QIPCO King George Race Weekend, the second largest annual race meeting after Royal Ascot. The race weekend features the Chapel Down Handicap Stakes, as well as a Chapel Down pop-up bar serving its award-winning English sparkling wines.
Liam Newton, Chapel Down Chief Marketing Officer, commented: “We are proud of our award-winning sparkling wines and of our long-lasting relationship with Ascot. We are excited to now be an Official Supplier and to be able to offer racegoers even more opportunities to enjoy a fresher way to celebrate.”
Felicity Barnard, Commercial Director, Ascot Racecourse, added: “We know our guests already enjoy the exceptional quality of Chapel Down’s sparkling wines with fine food and premium beverages playing such a key part of a day at the races. We are delighted to be extending our relationship with such a renowned British brand having them as an Official Supplier year-round, further extending the offering available to our racegoers as English wine continues to go from strength to strength.”
The partnership is the latest in a growing number of associations that Chapel Down has with leading British events. The brand is already showcased as the Official Sparkling Wine of England Cricket – with this summer seeing The Ashes being played on home soil – as well as the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. Earlier this summer, Chapel Down also became the Official English Sparkling Wine of Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park, the UK’s largest food and music festival with ten events across the South of England this summer.
