Will Perkins joins Pinglestone Estate as winemaker
Pinglestone Estate, creator of Louis Pommery England, is excited to announce that Will Perkins has been appointed as Winemaker. Will brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having worked in the wine industry for almost two decades.
Beginning his career at another local Hampshire vineyard, Will has also worked at renowned vineyards and wineries across the world, honing his skills in the art and science of winemaking.
Will will be collaborating with the Pommery winemaking team under the supervision of Clément Pierlot, Cellarmaster of Champagne Pommery. Alongside Clément’s team, he will oversee all aspects of winemaking, from grape selection through to disgorging, and will contribute to craft premium wines that showcase the unique terroir of the estate.
Will commented: “Having been aware of the project since its inception, an unbelievable opportunity arose in 2022 to join Pinglestone Estate under the Vranken-Pommery portfolio: a 40-hectare vineyard site, planted on a 360° compass. 20 individual parcels weaving an extraordinary tapestry of potential and opportunity.”
Clément Pierlot, Pinglestone Estate Director commented: “We are delighted to welcome Will to our team. His passion, expertise, and dedication to winemaking make him the perfect fit for our estate, and we really look forward to expressing all the potential of the Hampshire terroir at Pinglestone Estate.”
Through Will’s passion and enthusiasm, Pinglestone Estate will pursue its significant contribution to the growing reputation of English wine. With English Wine Week running from 17th to 25th June, 2023 – Pinglestone Estate looks forward to contributing to this annual celebration of English wine and invites any questions from the media to learn about Louis Pommery’s winemaking philosophy and approach.
The story of Pinglestone Estate, near the city of New Alresford, began in 2014 when Mr Vranken, owner of Vranken, Heidsieck & Co Monopole and Pommery Champagne Houses, embarked on a wine journey to develop an English sparkling wine. Sold under the Louis Pommery England brand this English Sparkling Wine was the first to be sold by a Champagne group. The wine is available from Ocado, Waitrose, Majestic & Sainsbury’s.
