Polgoon Vineyard
Polgoon Vineyard and Orchard is set in a beautiful position overlooking Mount's Bay, in a sheltered bowl on the outskirts of Penzance, West Cornwall, where it's protected from prevailing winds and able to benefit from a unique micro-climate that's just perfect for growing grapes. Formerly a Cornish flower farm, Polgoon has been transformed by the owners into a thriving vineyard and orchard that produces a range of award-winning, artisan Cornish wines, ciders and soft drinks.
Tours run from April through to harvest in September and provide a fascinating insight into the activities of a working Cornish vineyard and orchard. Offering an opportunity to learn about different grape and apple varieties, care and pruning regimes and giving a glimpse behind-the-scenes of the production processes that turns the fruit into wines and ciders. Vineyard tours are followed by a tasting of the wines and guests are invited to have lunch in the Vine House Kitchen. The Vineyard Shop stocks a full range of Polgoon products and other locally-made Cornish produce. For further info and opening hours visit www.polgoon.com
