UK award winners from all the leading wine competitions. The Golden 50 Wine List is the showcase of the wines that have won gold medals across 10 national and international competitions. It’s a starting point to explore the highest-ranked wines of the year.
Best of the best
Making it on to the List is a hard-fought achievement. Far more wines win gold than make the cut. The List proudly showcases both still and sparkling wines from across the UK.
This is the second year we have curated this list in partnership with the Vineyard & Winery Show, where the wines can be tasted.
2025 has been a standout year for wines from the British Isles, including the first ever 99 points awarded in the WineGB Awards and an English winner of the prestigious International Wine Challenge Champion Sparkling Trophy – another first.
It is fair to say that there are also incredible wines that haven’t put in for these competitions or any awards in the year, which is why they do not feature here. Do take the time to explore your local wines on the UK Wine Map and also WineGB’s very own WineGB Awards.

With over 105 gold medals awarded in 2025, the final selection shows the high quality and breadth of the nation’s wines with 34 sparkling wines and 16 still wines made by vineyards located throughout the UK.
