Sherborne Castle Estates

Sherborne Castle Wines and vineyard is a perfect example of an English vineyard producing award winning wines, and a Wine Brandy aged in oak produced from the Seyval grape, on an eight acre south facing slope on part of the Sherborne Castle Estate. The grape varieties grown are Bacchus, Leon Millot, Pinot Early, Regner, Reichensteiner, Schonburger and Seyval Blanc. The vines are planted on a wide high wire system known as Geneva Double Curtain that gives a smaller number of vines. This gives better exposure to the light and is very important to fruiting. Once the grapes are picked in October they are transported to a local wine maker at Pylle, Shepton Mallet. The vineyard has its own vats so every drop of wine in a Sherborne Castle bottle can be guaranteed to have come from our own vineyard. The wine is bottled and returned to store in March of the following year where the farm staff label the bottles ready for sale.
