Estate chef Alexander Baillieu at Squerryes Wine Estate’s restaurant, The Bottle Store, has prepared a new weekend brunch menu, ideal for couples wanting a quintessential way to celebrate Valentine’s Day

The Bottle Store, situated right at the heart of the Wine Garden of England, has launched a new brunch menu incorporating locally-sourced ingredients that effortlessly showcase the natural flavours of the Garden of England.

Set in the original winery on the historic 300-year-old Squerryes estate in Westerham, Kent, The Bottle Store officially opened last year, serving a brasserie-style lunch and dinner menu created by celebrated chef, Alexander Baillieu.

To ring in 2022, the 70-seat restaurant has unveiled a cosy new look curated by local interior designer Elizabeth Windsor that perfectly complements its romantic setting overlooking the vines, together with a brunch menu of quintessential English breakfast dishes featuring ingredients sourced from the estate, Kent and its neighbouring counties.

Enjoy pancakes with bacon and maple syrup

Enjoy homemade toasted sour dough breads with Sussex butter and jams made from local fruit, delicate pastries and traditional English crumpets followed by a variety of free-range egg-based dishes, such as Kent eggs benedict with Squerryes Estate honey roasted ham, Scrambled eggs with parsley, smoked salmon or dry cured Kent bacon and omelette made with Squerryes Estate ham, English cheese, mushroom, dry cured Kent bacon and parsley omelette.

Those with a sweet tooth might prefer to opt for Blueberry pancakes with dry cured Kent bacon and maple syrup, while the health conscious are well catered for thanks to a range of Greek style yoghurts from the Northiam Dairy in Rye, served with locally-grown fruits and nuts.

Of course, brunch wouldn’t be brunch without a selection of breakfast cocktails and The Bottle Store will not disappoint; choose from Squerryes Bucks Fizz, Squerryes signature Bloody Mary or The Bottle Store aged Negroni.

Traditionalists can opt for an elegant glass of Squerryes award-winning vintage sparkling wine; choose from blanc de blanc, brut or rosé. A range of local juices and healthy smoothies are also available.

“Situated in the original home of our business, The Bottle Store restaurant really connects people with the craft of winemaking but we also wanted to create a place where elegant style meets local provenance and seasonal flavours. This has been achieved thanks to Elizabeth’s keen eye for detail and Alexander delicious dishes, which make the most of the fantastic seasonal produce we have on our doorstep,” comments Squerryes’ owner, Henry Warde.

“With the launch of our new weekend brunch menu, we look forward to welcoming more people through the doors of The Bottle Store, to fulfil our family motto ¬‘Licet Esse Beatis’, meaning ‘it is permitted to be joyful’.”

Squerryes was recently recognised as one of the top five Champagne and Sparkling Wine brands in the world, having picked up top scores at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge and Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships; three of the world’s most influential and rigorously-judged wine competitions.

Brunch at The Bottle Store restaurant is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to midday from January 15, 2022. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Sunday. To book a table visit: www.squerryes.co.uk/bottle-store-restaurant.
