London Wine Fair’s 2023 Wine Writers Edit results announced ahead of the show opening next week

The London Wine Fair has announced the 2023 Wine Writers Edit: a top 30 of “must taste” drinks which 10 of the U.K.’s foremost wine writers and influencers have selected from the thousands of products taking part this year. Greece and South Africa are the leading countries, with four wines apiece featured. But 10% of the wines selected are from England – and one county: Devon. Three wines, all from Sandbridge Barton – The Home of Sharpham Wines, have made it into the top 30: 2020 Blanc de Noir; 2021 Pinot Gris “Wild Ferment”; and 2022 Dart Valley Reserve.

The following 10 judges each selected three wines for this year’s Wine Writers Edit – an annual snapshot of the Fair’s highlight wines – all of which will be available to taste at Olympia next week. They are: Tim Atkin MW; Oz Clarke; Jamie Goode; Aleesha Hansel; Brad Horne; Sophia Longhi; Hannah Milnes; Victoria Moore; Jane Parkinson; and Joe Wadsack.

Diversity is a key theme for this year’s Edit, which features 15 different countries, including those off the beaten track, such as Japan, Lebanon, Morocco and Uruguay. There is also a diversity of styles represented, incorporating Umeshu, Pet Net, an amphora gamay and a non-alcoholic sparkling tea. Over 3,300 products are available to view via the London Wine Fair website, so far, with more being added by the hour. 401 exhibitors have signed up so far – an increase of 22% on last year.

The London Wine Fair will take place at Olympia from 15th to 17th May.

Sandridge Barton will be on the WineGB Pavilion – DB26.
