Sustainable Wines of Great Britain (SWGB) will be hosting a workshop on sustainable pest and disease control on 31st July at Albury Organic Vineyard. We will be joined by Neil Boonham, a plant pathologist from Newcastle University, who will be demonstrating SporeSentry, an automated spore sampling/testing device that samples air, separates spores and tests for the presence of disease using highly specific and sensitive LAMP tests. The workshop will provide some background of previous work and an introduction to the development of the SporeSentry, and a proposal to test the system in the vineyard sector.
