Please join us at the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain workshop on improving winery design to reduce environmental impact on the 4 December at Plumpton College. We will be joined by speakers David Cowderoy (BevTech) and Ben Smith (Itasca Wines). After the talks we will have a workshop on potential ideas for improving the design of a real winery; this should be a great opportunity for the exchange of ideas and real practical tips to reduce environmental impact through design.

David Cowderoy is one of the UK’s most experienced winemakers and has a wealth of knowledge and experience making wine and consulting on winery developments. David held the position as Still Wine Mentor for the UK’s WineSkills training scheme for five years, and was also an expert trainer for many workshops and masterclasses.

Itasca wines say about their approach to sustainability: Our site and facilities are packed with sustainability-focused innovations. Our natural wetlands system means no waste water leaves the site; we generate our own electricity through the solar farm; all the buildings are fully insulated, temperature controlled and lit by LED lighting; we measure our usage on resources and clean using chemicals and methods that require less water. All our equipment is brand new so it operates in the most energy efficient way possible.

Tea and coffee will be available from 10am and talks will start at 10.30pm. Please come to the WSC1 lecture hall in the Wine Division on your arrival.
