Uncork your next adventure in one of England’s most surprising and scenic wine destinations: the Severn Valley

Flowing through the heart of the West Midlands, from the rolling countryside of Worcestershire and Herefordshire to the historic landscapes of Shropshire and beyond, the Severn Valley Wine Trail launches in English Wine Week, on June 25th—linking some of the region’s most exciting vineyards in a way that allows wine lovers and tourists to explore at their own pace, choosing their own route and experiences.
Running through to 31st March 2027, the trail invites visitors to explore a curated route of independent vineyards, each showcasing the region’s distinctive terroir and winemaking talent. The trail aims to strengthen the profile of West Midlands viticulture while encouraging residents and tourists alike to discover the landscapes, flavours, and stories behind the wines.
As part of the experience, visitors can collect stamps at each vineyard along the route. After collecting stamps from six vineyards, participants will receive a complimentary bottle of wine at their sixth stop. Completing the full trail unlocks a second free bottle, as a celebratory reward.
Well connected via major routes including the M5, M6, and M54, and with excellent rail links from Birmingham and beyond, the West Midlands is an accessible and richly rewarding region to explore. The trail links not just vineyards, but experiences—from welcoming cellar doors and tasting rooms, to vineyard walks, river views, and countryside cafés.
Whether you’re pairing local wines with artisan produce from Astley Vineyard north of Worcester, enjoying a riverside walk along the Severn, or exploring historic sites such as Worcester Cathedral, Ironbridge Gorge, or the Malvern Hills, the Wine Trail is a gateway to some of England’s most beautiful landscapes and characterful towns like Bewdley, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Tewkesbury, and Great Malvern.
Visitors can use the trail to plan a weekend getaway, a scenic drive, or even a themed tour—meeting winemakers, tasting award-winning wines, and learning about the unique terroir of each vineyard. Some vineyards offer on-site accommodation or are located near charming places to stay, making it easy to turn your visit into a longer escape.
Across the region, a wealth of cafés, pubs, and restaurants provide outstanding local food to complement the wines, with suggestions available on the Wine Trail website. Many vineyards also offer food options, creating a complete visitor experience.
Backed by the UK trade body WineGB and WineGB Midlands & North, this new trail brings together a collection of characterful vineyards across the West Midlands—offering a taste of the region’s quiet wine revolution, many years in the making.
