WineGB has published its first extensive guide on Regenerative Viticulture working in partnership with the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation (RVF). WineGB has responded to a growing interest in regenerative viticulture among its membership and the publication of the guide will provide a central point of help and reference for growers and producers as they undertake their regenerative journey.
As the trade association for UK wine, WineGB supports its members to make wine, market wine and to tell the story. Our education materials, including toolkits and webinars, are important in upskilling the sector and supporting those looking to develop their learning. This extensive toolkit recognises the significance of this growing practice and is supported by an informative webinar with the Regenerative Vititiculture Foundation.
Solely for WineGB members and found in the WineGB Knowledge Hub in partnership with MFU Mutual, this in-depth guide is designed to support members who are interested in learning more about regenerative vineyard practices, those who want to start implementing regenerative techniques, or growers who are already engaged with the concept but want to explore further opportunities.
The toolkit explores the many different approaches to regenerative viticulture including; the use of cover crops, animal integration, supporting and encouraging biodiversity and the integration of agroforestry.
WineGB is also proud to include The One Block Challenge ™ in the guide as a best practice in SWGB, located under the soil health section. This exciting global project from the RVF acknowledges the importance of regenerative viticulture for sustainable vineyard practices.
Becky Sykes, Programme Director at The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation comments: “we are thrilled to see WineGB really take up the mantle for regenerative viticulture and embrace its growth. It is vital for growers to have access to the correct resources and supportand we are sure this new guide will only increase interest among the UK wine producing community.”
Emma Rix Sustainability Manager at WineGB concludes: “Whether you’re an experienced producer with established regen practices or a new grower looking to dip your toe into this vast sea, WineGB is here to support all our members. Regenerative Viticulture is so vital for healthy, sustainable vineyards and we are incredibly encouraged by this growth in interest from members.”

WineGB is the trade association for UK wine. We cultivate success for our 500 grower and producer members, which represents circa 70% of UK hectarage. We represent the industry to the Government, media, and trade. We provide our members with timely, accurate resources, to help their businesses grow, from guidance and toolkits, to training and marketing access. At the heart of our work, we help members to make, market and tell the story of UK wine.
The Regenerative Viticulture Foundation (RVF) is a global not-for-profit organisation. Their aim is to advance
regenerative practices in vineyards in every corner of the planet. The team at the RVF are experts in understanding the environmental impact of vine growing and how vineyards can implement practices in order to reduce their impact on the natural world, building resilient vineyards. They collate research, create numerous useful tools, and build programmes to share information, build a community, and spread the word and work of regenerative viticulture.
The One Block Challenge™ (1BC) gives winegrowers a practical way to explore regenerative methods on a manageable scale and within a supportive community. Each participant dedicates a block of vines, applies a core set of practices, and carries out simple soil and biodiversity tests. By working in cohorts, participants share observations, compare results, and build collective experience that is often difficult to access through certification programs or isolated experimentation.
