The Welsh Vineyards Association has announced a new name and identity: Gwin Cymru
The change reflects both the growth of the Welsh wine industry and the increasingly national character of the organisation, whose members now include vineyards and wine producers from across Wales.
Alongside the new name comes a redesigned visual identity and logo. The updated branding features a more contemporary design and a bold red dragon motif incorporated into a wine glass.
The new name, Gwin Cymru received unanimous approval from members who felt it better reflects the Welsh identity at the heart of the industry. Adding “Wine Wales” to the logo ensures its meaning is clear and welcoming to audiences beyond Wales.
The organisation has also introduced a bilingual tagline:
“yn cynrychioli gwinllannoedd a chynhyrchwyr gwin o Gymru = representing Welsh vineyards and wine producers.”
The updated design uses a cleaner, more modern colour palette and typography, reflecting a sector that is evolving quickly as new vineyards are planted and wines from Wales gain recognition both within the UK and internationally.
Over the past decade, Wales has seen steady growth in vineyard plantings and wine production. Producers are now located right across the country, and the association felt the time was right for an identity that better represents this expanding national community.
Gwin Cymru will continue the work of the Welsh Vineyards Association in supporting growers and producers, promoting their wines, and representing the industry.
The new branding will begin appearing across the organization’s communications and materials immediately. Gwin Cmru proudly represents Wales within WineGB, the trade association for UK wine.
