The new independent platform is set to redefine the art of storytelling across wine, drinks, hospitality and culture
Founded by Tom Owtram, Between the Vines is a new independent platform bringing together storytelling, sustainability and community across the world of wine, drinks and hospitality.
Through its digital magazine, online editorial, events and partnerships, it spotlights the people, places and ideas shaping a more creative and resilient future.
Between the Vines begins its story with a community of 21 founding partners across wine, drinks, hospitality and culture – representing the diversity, purpose and collaboration that define the project.
Alongside WineGB is Berry Bros. & Rudd, Botanica Wines, Boys Hall, Château Léoube, Chilworth Manor Vineyard, Christie’s, Cobble Hill, Everleaf, EuroCave, Geisenheim University, Hundred Hills, Journey’s End, Jukes, Positive Luxury, Renais, Somerset House, Tillingham, VSPT Wine Group, WinePilot and Wythall Estate.
“Between the Vines is about people – the growers, chefs, sommeliers and creative shaping the culture of wine and hospitality today. It’s about storytelling that connects ideas, craft and community to imagine a more sustainable future for how we eat, drink and gather.“
— Tom Owtram, Founder.
At the heart of the platform is the Between the Vines magazine – published quarterly – bringing together long-form features, interviews and insights that explore the people, places and ideas shaping food, drink and culture.
The first digital magazine, published today and coinciding with WineGB’s Sustainability Month, introduces the theme of connection – to land, to creativity and to one another. It features stories and conversations with Anna Haugh (Myrtle Restaurant) on leadership and Irish identity, Imme Ermgassen (Botivo) on ritual and flavour, Wine GB CEO Nicola Bates on the future of English and Welsh wine, and Josep Maria Ribas Portella (Familia Torres) on climate action in winemaking.
“This is our second year running a monthly focus on sustainability. Throughout October, we celebrate 31 Days of Sustainability — a month dedicated to sharing ideas, stories, and progress across the industry. It ties in rather wonderfully with the publication of Between the Vines.”
— Nicola Bates, CEO, WineGB
Looking ahead, Between the Vines will continue to grow through stories, events and experiences that bring its community together around shared values of sustainability and culture. A curated events and experiences programme will launch in 2026, alongside The Vine Edit – a new monthly newsletter, launching in November 2025, offering a curated edit of stories, ideas and inspiration from Between the Vines, designed to spark thought and offer perspective across food, drink and culture. A podcast series is also planned for early 2026, exploring the people and ideas shaping a more sustainable and creative future for drinks and hospitality.
“Between the Vines is an important new voice for our industry, bringing sustainability, culture and storytelling together in a way that speaks both to wine professionals and consumers.”
— Stephen Duckett, Owner and Winemaker at Hundred Hills.
