WineGB’s Coronation Pledges
Camel Valley Vineyard
Cornwall
Royal Warrant Holder

Bob, Annie and Sam Lindo planted Camel Valley Vineyards, on the family farm in the heart of Cornwall in 1989. The 20 acres of vineyards boast a steep South facing aspect running down to the salmon rich river Camel, which flows on to Padstow and in to the Atlantic Ocean. Camel Valley has been featured in many TV programmes including Rick Stein, Oz and James, BBC holiday programme and travel programmes for Germany, Japan and the US. Bob and Sam have both been Chair of the United Kingdom Vineyards Association.
The Lindos have won many tourism and national and international wine awards. The vineyard continues to be independent and family run and the family is proud that their tours will usually be conducted by a family member. The ethos is to expand in quality, but not in size.
Ever since gaining a medal in 1992 with the very first vintage, the focus has always been on quality, sustainability and competition success. Second generation winemaker Sam Lindo has won ‘UK winemaker of the year’ 3 times. Bob Lindo was awarded the International Wine Challenge lifetime achievement award for ‘raising the quality of English wine’, in 2018.
Camel Valley was granted a Royal Warrant in 2018 and the wines have been served at Royal and State banquets. Camel Valley is solar powered and certified ISO14001 sustainable.
Passing on family farms in ‘good heart’ is the hope in most farming families, but ‘good heart’ now includes sustainability. Camel Valley was awarded the Cornwall Sustainability Trophy in 2017 and became a founder member of WineGB sustainability group (SWGB).
Camel Valley has supported the Cornwall Air Ambulance, by paying for the fuel for over 100 rescues and match funding with the Royal Warrant Holder’s for the purchase of vital equipment. In addition, match funding RWH’s for emergency bedding for St Petroc’s Homeless charity.
Camel Valley’s Pledge
We will continue to maintain our farm, SSSI wet lands and vineyards in the most sustainable way possible, to the best of our ability.
