Lime Wood Launch Exclusive Partnership with Sugrue South Downs

Lime Wood announces a unique new partnership with Sugrue South Downs – the multi-award-winning boutique producer of English sparkling and still wines. This collaboration highlights Lime Wood’s longstanding support for home-grown grapes and its commitment to showcasing the very best of English winemaking.
Having always championed local craftsmanship and sustainability, and with numerous English listings over the years, Lime Wood now offers some of England’s most exciting wines with Sugrue South Downs and ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ as its exclusive English Sparkling house pour. Irish-born Dermot Sugrue first released his now iconic cuvée ‘The Trouble With Dreams’ in 2009, which immediately garnered critical acclaim, including the highest-ever score for an English wine from Decanter magazine, followed by the Decanter Trophy for UK Best Sparkling Wine.
Dermot says: “Lime Wood and the beautiful hotel surroundings are the perfect backdrop to opening a special bottle (or two) with friends and family. Every time we visit, we are staggered by the enthusiasm, knowledge, and expertise of the team who make the enjoyment of drinking even more of a pleasure than it already is: wines just taste better at Lime Wood.”
The partnership will also include exclusive wine tastings hosted by Dermot and his wife and co-winemaker Ana, offering guests a rare glimpse into the artistry behind these exceptional bottles. Dermot is widely recognised as one of England’s most successful and awarded winemakers: during his 16 years as Head Winemaker at Wiston Estate, and previously at Nyetimber, he won almost every award possible, including UK Winery of the Year four times in five years and Wine GB Boutique Producer of the Year twice in a row. Now, Dermot and Ana are focused entirely on their own project. In 2022, they were joined by the UK’s leading boutique hotelier, Robin Hutson OBE, Chairman of Lime Wood.
Robin says, “It is great to see Sugrue South Downs at Lime Wood – these artisanal wines perfectly complement our ethos of offering genuine and authentic hospitality whilst celebrating craftsmanship and indulgence. Both Lime Wood and Sugrue South Downs are deeply committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Dermot’s eco-conscious winemaking aligns perfectly with Lime Wood’s dedication to sourcing locally and where possible reducing environmental impact.”
There will be a curated selection of Sugrue South Downs’ sparkling wines, including:
